Robert Schwartzberg brings over 28 years of experience in equity and high yield research, trading and investment banking, primarily in the financial services sector. This sector includes banks, business development companies, mortgage servicers and originators, REITS and homebuilders.

 

He spent the bulk of his career at Friedman, Billings Ramsey where he started the firm’s Specialty Finance and REIT verticals. During his tenure, he was highly involved in the engagement and marketing of eleven transactions totaling more than $800 million in equity and high yield debt. These transactions provided capital to many of the leading companies in the REIT and specialty finance sectors. Rob also served as one the firm’s first Directors of Research where he supervised the written research of over fifty analysts. He was the only analyst invited to become a Shareholder of FBR prior to initial public offering.

 

More recently, Rob spent three years at Compass Point Research and Trading where he served as the firm’s first Director of Research. His recommendations during his tenure at Compass Point provided institutional investors with returns of approximately 267%.

Rob graduated with honors from Georgetown University in 1984 with a degree in Finance and also holds an MBA degree in Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School (Class of 1989). He currently serves on the board of Jewish Federation of Greater Washington. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking and fly fishing.
